Scott Creek Trails

Thirty horses and riders showed up for the trail ride. The weather was on the cool side which makes for a pleasant ride. We rode for two hours, stopped for lunch, rode further, made it back to the meadow we all had parked in and had a catered b-b-q dinner. It was a long but enjoyable day. Jerry loves the big crowds and socializing with everyone. I like very, very small groups much better. I have some nice pictures to share. We rode through pines, big oaks, across streams, over hills, and through meadows. The skies were clear and deep blue. Now you have to use your imagination because I am not successfully posting pictures tonight. And I am too tired to stay up longer and go out to Jerry's office to hook up to his internet booster. Sorry....

Some exciting news; today additonal seats were made available at discounted fares, on youngest daughter's flights, so.... yeehaw, the grandson gets to come visit while his mom is interviewing. Yay! They'll be here late tomorrow night.

Jerry has been suffering with a yucky cold for 3 days, I woke up with it this morning and felt crummy. I insisted we miss Church because it is a small church with many elderly members and I choose not to spread my viruses around if I can help it. The plan was to rest today and recover. Our rest today consisted of clearing out our front fence line of wild overgrown blackberry brambles and scraggly awful Oleander. The Oleander is deadly when eaten. I am glad to be rid of it, not that I would eat it, but the critters might. That's not the end of our rest though, we also pounded fence posts around the lower pasture. And cleared brush with the tractor. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that I was directed to raise Jerry in the bucket of the tractor high up in the trees so he could chainsaw dead limbs. It seemed very dangerous to me. So, now we're done resting and I'm going to bed. I sure hope that I can sleep after all of that rest.

Oh! YAY! About the grandboy! I am so excited for you. It is so nice when you wish for something and then accept it's not to be... only to get it. Oh, and to be that boy! He will have a wonderful time at your place and he will remember it always. My grandparents had a small farm and I loved it there. My grandma let me go gather the eggs for breakfast and they were brown... Oh, I just loved being there with them!

You know, the last time I went on a big horse ride like that... I got a grumpy horse that wasn't happy to have my big ole butt riding on him. We were in some really steep terain and on very narrow trails... that bugger kept running me up into the sides of trees. My legs (especially my right leg) was all bruised. My knees would hit those trees hard. It was the first time ever that I did not like a particular horse. Poor thing probably needed a truck load of advil after toting me around though.

My Dad and his wife spend their weekends much like you. Their place is absolutely lovely but they don't have animals (well... they've got a little dog that is really a rat in a dog suit and some cats). They live near a lake and just bought a boat. They have a big pool but the land they are on looks just like your property.

Shoot fire woman what's he do for a day off when he ain't sick? Isn't this the guy who had a heart attack? Hope your arteries are in good shape they need to be to keep up with that fella. Maybe he needs some Ritalin. Bravo for saving the old folks from germs, very considerate spoken like a real doc. YIPPEEE on the grandson! Next prayer request one California teaching job. If my dog got into some turkey bones and ate them up do I need to die of anxiety?

First Karen d, turkey bones ick. 48 hours and no problems, THEN you can relax. The first week we had Cort I have a 'funny' diarrhea on the bedroom carpet, middle of the night story after he raided trash.

Courtney, I am really really 'jumping up and down' excited to see my visitors tonight. I will be even worse when the other 2 grands come to visit this summer, I haven't seen them in 1 1/2 years.

Bad horse Coffee! We had a pony when I was a kid, that would slam us into trees and limbs, we loved him though. He was my little sister's and they were quite the pair. I believe you mention your Dad in Grass Valley? If so, that is very much like here. Yep, if you don't keep up on the property work it soons swallows you up. Hmmm seems like we are already swallowed up, just trying to get ahead of years of neglect here.
