Diversity of the West

I had a day off today. Instead of working in a hospital, I stayed at home. It was a typical August day, in the 90's and sunny. I spent quality time with my grandson. We ate breakfast, gathered loads of rocks for my rock path project, we cleaned four horse paddocks and stalls, we unloaded and stacked about 75 bales of hay, lead horses out to pasture, lead horses in from pasture, the farrier came to put new horse shoes on 3 horses, I doctored the new colt, we all cooked dinner together, ate and cleared the table, now all getting ready for bed!
What a way to rest from a busy four days away from home.

Jerry and I left Thursday, drove 12 hours through 4 states, stayed at our destination 2 days, spent yesterday on the road, about 12 hours.

Tonight I'll share with you just a few photos of the lovely 12 hour drive.

A game! This is state #1. It's a giveaway answer, and I'll even give a clue, we're driving Carson Pass leading down to a beautiful resort lake that is bordered by 2 states.

State #2 (a) Plan the fuel stops carefully, not many towns.

State #2(b) There's a town ahead. And some clouds. I took bunches of cloud pictures.

State #3 (a) More clouds, more dirt, more road, more sagebrush.

State #3 (b) More clouds! A few sprinkles of rain and a fun double rainbow.

State #4(a) Sunset. (more dirt, rocks and sagebrush)

State #4(b) *yawn*

Soon after the previous photo we arrived. We had a busy, fun 2 days. Leaving for the exciting trip home early Sunday morning.

This is State #2 on the way home we saw this band of wild mustangs (feral horses).

This is home to State #1, same stretch of road as the first picture different view.

Two of my favorite rocks on the home stretch.

I am so glad to be home. And to have a day off.

I hope to be blogging more regularly again. I've missed everyone.

And to those family members not getting my phone calls. Remember, we can't use our cell phones while driving in California and I don't have a blue tooth. Remember how temperamental cell service is up here.

Hope you'll play along and guess the states! No prizes. Just a mini geography lesson. Try it without a map or atlas.

Okay...

State #1 is California

State #2 is Nevada

State #3 in Utah

State #4 is Wyoming

Those are my guesses but... I'm not sure about the last two. Truth is those pictures looks like parts of many states. Idaho has more agriculture along the southern part... if I remember correctly. #4 really looks like parts of Wyoming to me. I guess you could have gone further south and the northern parts of Arizona might... no, I don't think you went that way. Northern New Mexico doesn't look like that at all. I don't think you were in Colorado. That last picture totally looks like Wyoming.

Interesting trip. CA.NA. and the other two, could be any of the other states, most all the land looks the same, out there. But still nice to drive through.

Kathy, I MISSED YOU!!! So glad to see your little post. I thought Coffee Bean nailed it but you posted the answers already. I would've got California and Nevada.
I've been busy working too, but when you were gone so long the thought occurred to me that you could just dissappear and that would be it. I would always be wondering about cool Kathy that lives somewhere in California and takes pictures in the OR. Well, it made me kinda sad because I REALLY LIKE YOU!
Talk about a lot to do in a day are you on steroids? I'd drop dead with about half of what you said.
